Poem of january
Cat
Your demanding voice
shows out the Siam in you
the temple-cat
of ancient kingdom
Your yellow eyes
mysterious and deep
were like mirrors
into another world
Your way of waiting
lurking and ready to jump
taught me
patience
You were a loyal companion
and teacher
but your last lesson
was the hardest for me.

Poem of february
Imbolc
A white cloth covers the land
the earth is breathing frost
The river's song froze to ice
at the underworld's gate
But creaking opens the ancient fence
and shows the path to Her
The mother has born herself again
the Goddess, she returns
And the dark days will recede
when facing Her great power.
(c) Varuna 8/97
Poem of march
Ostara
Young sun is warming the old land
giving kisses to the earth
Warm wind brings a joyful message
the summertime is near
Deep in the grove She's waking up
nearly changed into Red-Woman
barfooted She strides among the trees
stepping slow and carefully
and all over, where She sets Her feet
a light, fresh green appears.
(c) Varuna 3/97
Poem of april
Vollmond
Full Moon
The forest enchanted
by HER light
Three spring's water
whispers a powerful song
Two women raise their arms
while facing HER beauty
and singing out HER names
the names of Ancient Mother
(c) Varuna 4/99
Poem of may
Beltaine
She floods silver
in sky's dark velvet
pouring out Her light over the fields
For eternities
She's watching
the burning fires
of Beltaine's night
Their light
glim in the hearts of people
gathered
to honour the gods
And again
She descends
becomes one of them
And again
She goes in search
of Him
whoose wild look
in this night
sneaks through the eyes of humans.
(c) Varuna 8/97
Poem of june
Litha
Full of splendour are fields and forests
the breeze is sweet and warm
Clans and tribes are gathered together
below the giants of stone
The midsummer fire is kindled now
higly the flames blaze up
Priests climb up the rocky tower
and do the ancient sacrifice
Then light the sacred flame again
and go to be on the guard
As bright as the sky lamp at the day
the rolling wheels are burning
Down to the valley they run very fast
and go out at the and of the run.
(c) Varuna 9/97
Poem of july/august
Sacred Signs
The drum plays
my heartbeat
at the door to underworld
anouncing my descends
Deep inside Her belly
I put my seal
my hand with my blood
to renew the ancient contract
"My daughter" She whispers
"with your moon-blood
I recognize you
I signed it long time ago
for you to remember my power."
(c) Varuna 6/99
Poem of september
Pagan baptism
Wets with water
from the fount of life
this child is consecrated
to the ancient gods
I'm calling the powers
immortal entities
to bless this child
to give love and shelter
The wise nornir
throw the runes
and pronounce
the baby's destiny
The mighty ancestors
hasten to come
and witness again
the pact of life.

Poem of october
Vision
With the fire of flickering candle-light
the air filled with fragrant smoke
I saw Her face
Blue flames danced on the water
playing tenderly with my hand
Her eyes were looking at me
and deeper into my soul
Her face seemed like mine
and not like my own
endless old and young the same time
with eyes that have seen various sorrows
and mouth that never forget how to laugh
(c) Varuna 10/99
Poem of november
Woman
Dressed in white gown
with a red flower
she stands at the circle's edge
The arousing woman
raised in her eyes
whispering to us: "I know!"
She wishes to enter
to be our sister
related to each of us
"Leave behind your infancy
the times of playing
and join us in the circle's round"
The crones are nodding
and smiling wisely
continue weaving the blood-red tie
(c) Varuna 8/97
Poem of december
Mid-Winter
The world stops breathing
and sinks into darkness
in the longest night of all
Standstill
Silence
A scream breaks the silence
scream of the mother
scream of birth
ancient scream
Respire
Restart
a new circle
a new day.
