Poem of january

Shamanic Initiation

Alone
I'm standing at the abyss
Ready
to jump to the other side
of eternal paradoxum
where No is Yes
and Yes is No.

Left alone
with myself
Hidden
is the world around me
I'm standing at the shore
the boat is waiting
to ferry me across.

Alone
I'm climbing the ancient tree
with nine branches
more far and far
higher and higher
up to
the dancing gods

Poem of february

Woman wandering between the worlds

I'm the one wandering between the worlds
I'm coming from neverland
I'm going to nowhere.
And with every step I make
my destination is moving away
'cause the path is in me.
Here and there
yesterday and tomorrow
is always the same
for me who's in center
of all infinities.

(c) Varuna 4/95

Poem of march

The Return

"May the gods be with you"
she said
as he was entering
the labyrinth
like a child
curious
open
hungry for wisdom
deeper and deeper
he went down
the spiral
until the very end
where he found
the answer
where he found
nothing
when he lifted the veil
painful
the truth
screaming loudly
he turned around
and climbed up
the coils
and returned
to her
as an old man.

Poem of april

Don't ask me

Don't ask me my age
I'm as old as the wind in your hair
I'm as old as the water of the oceans
I'm as old as the fire of the sun
I'm as old as the rocks
I'm as old as the moon in the sky
and as old as a newborn child.

(c) Varuna 8/93

Poem of may

Sacred Marriage

Dancing
in the light of the fire
I saw Him
the look of His eyes
endless old
endless wise
deep black seas
with sparks
of blue fire
banished me
took me
away
deeper and deeper
inside the grove
moonlight shone on the place
where I surrendered to Him

(c) Varuna 10/97

Poem of june/july

Death

We are children
of the great mother
girl
woman
wise crone
beginning and end
center of the wheel
that continues turning
born out of HER
we will return to HER
eternal cycle
of life and death.

(c) Varuna 10/97

Poem of august

Lughnasad

Gold is shining from the fields
yellow grown the fruits of ear
In abundance the land is resting
the realm of the Kornking
But the shadows, they are rising
by the call of Otherworld
The Sickle-woman walks around
demanding the ancient sacrifice
and wisely the king is bowing down
for HER, the crone in black.

(c) Varuna 7/97

Poem of september

Mabon

Light and shadow in perfect balance
I'm hearing His steps
and the shadow of the antlers
is rising on the golden plains
a last greeting
a wise smile
and He strides through the door
into the underworld.

(c) Varuna 9/96

Poem of october

Pregnancy

Swimming
in the warm water of the womb
dancing forward into the world
while dreaming
united with Her
one circle
two hearts
beating the rythm of life.

(c) Varuna 9/97

Poem of november

Two worlds

Separated by time
living in different worlds
searching
calling
for each other
One day
they will meet again
to fullfill
their ancient mission
One day
the doors will open
and two worlds
will be one.

(c) Varuna 11/98

Poem of december

Jul

Sleeping deeply the forest dreams
giving presentiment of life's centre
The light of heaven's lamp is greeting
like it shines from the otherworld
Now the longest night has started
that comes with hope and fear
The nightfall embraces us
the wheel of life has stopped
A cold wind sends the land to sleep
the ancient tree is trembling
And in the deepest, darkest hour
a fragile spark is glowing
The wheel has start to turn again
the golden child is born
"Our deepest thanks to you, oh Goddess,
for this birth of new light!"
